Claylat's ceramics draws its inspiration from the raw beauty of the Eastern and Western Cape landscapes translating it into a diverse range of ceramic dinnerware, planters, and sculptural pieces that defy the conventional boundaries of ceramic craftsmanship.

The visual language of Claylat finds its roots in the rugged landscapes of the Western Cape, where rock formations, indigenous flora, and fauna create a tableau of enduring allure. The Cederberg, in particular, stands as a testament to the sculpting forces of nature, presenting a landscape marked by timeless imperfections. This distinct imperfection is intentionally reflected in the art direction and photography.

Design

The logo and ceramics marks of Claylat are minimalist, drawing inspiration from the symbols found in ancient caves. The marks are applied in print on recycled paper raw papers. The illustrations serve as a means of incorporating elements of fauna into our visual language and completing the identity.
