Interior design branding for Laura Kay: a typographic identity for a human-centred studio

I led the research, design and development of the visual identity for Laura Kay, an interior design studio dedicated to creating joyful, functional and human-centred spaces. Laura Kay specialises in interiors that prioritise well-being, productivity and alignment with brand identity. My task was to turn that ethos into a visual language that shows both the studio’s modern professionalism and its warm, human touch.

Research: finding the brand’s foundations

Through interviews, brand workshops and competitor analysis, I helped uncover the brand’s emotional and strategic positioning: a studio that blends clarity with creativity, and structure with play. Three foundations came out of that work: joy, clarity and thoughtful functionality. They became the anchors of the identity and grounded its direction, so the work reflects the values at the heart of the business.

A typographic identity built on a modular grid

The identity is led by type and plays with structure and contrast. I designed a modular typographic system that acts as both structure and signature. The logotype is custom set to sit within the grid, which creates playful yet precise moments across the collateral and keeps layouts dynamic but cohesive. The typefaces are modernist but warm, so the brand reads as professional without feeling cold. A palette of neutrals with bright accents adds contrast without losing coherence.

A flexible design system for print, digital and spatial formats

To support Laura Kay’s growth, I developed a flexible design system with scalable components and layout rules. It keeps the brand visually consistent across print, digital and spatial formats, and leaves room for the clever, layered layouts that support storytelling across media. The result is a refined system that reflects the studio’s values and still feels alive and personal wherever it appears.
